Coloring Book review

Last weekend my daughter came home with a coloring book clenched in her hands. There was nothing special about it, and it was actually one that she already had at home. It wasn’t what was in the book that made it so special to her, it was the fact that it came from her grandmother’s house and that she was allowed to bring it home. It didn’t matter if it only cost a dollar and was something that she had already colored; it was just the prize of having a coloring book.

This just goes to show that there will always be something magical about a coloring book to a child. It is an adventure waiting to happen. There are pictures and stories that they can enjoy, and they are allowed to make them anything that they want them to be. They can color a tree purple if they like, and they can color their world yellow if that is where they want to be, and how they want to see things. If you look through what my daughter has done, you will find blue cows, purple grass, and a great big green sun. A coloring book is anything they want it to be.

You can pay a lot for a coloring book, or you can pay a little, and it isn’t going to matter very much to your children. They may have ones they want, but even then you won’t have to spend too much money. I don’t think I have ever seen one of five dollars. I don’t think I have even seen anything over three dollars lately, and the higher priced coloring book tends to have extras like double the pages or perhaps stickers and other goodies. Some have large easy pictures, and there are others that have more intricate pictures for the older child. Some have connect the dots included, and even a few educational but very easy puzzles.

When the holidays come, there in nothing more perfect than a coloring book and crayons to include in a stocking. If you have children in your extended family that you have a hard time buying for, a coloring book is always a great idea. Boys and girls both love them, and that makes it easy to buy for someone when you have no idea what they want. Quite honestly, if you were to buy some for my mother for Christmas, you wouldn’t hear a complaint from her.
